Harley‑Davidson entered the golf‑cart market in 1963, the same year William “Willie G.” Davidson joined the company, launching its first three‑wheeled gas‑powered carts. In 1969, Harley‑Davidson was purchased by American Machine & Foundry (AMF), which continued producing the carts while maintaining the Harley‑Davidson name. By 1972, AMF expanded the lineup by adding four‑wheel carts, diversifying both gas and electric options, and repositioning serial plates as part of the redesign. Production continued until 1981-1982, when AMF sold the golf‑cart division to Columbia ParCar, ending Harley‑Davidson’s nearly two‑decade run in the market.
