Description
Volkswagen introduced the second-generation Type 2 for the 1968 model year with a one-piece curved windshield, a larger body, sliding side doors, and a revised rear suspension. Westfalia-Werke of Germany converted Type 2s into campers for the US market, fitting cabinetry, a sink, a convertible rear bench, and a pop-top roof. Power came from a rear-mounted, air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle.
This Westfalia Camper is finished in light blue with a cream upper body and pop-top over black and gray vinyl upholstery. According to the seller, it received a full refurbishment under previous ownership that included fitment of an overhauled 1,600cc flat-four from a 1970 VW Type 1, bodywork, a repaint, replacement of the pop-top canvas and rear window screen, and reupholstered seating. The interior features woodgrain cabinetry with a sink and faucet, a rear bench seat with under-seat storage, louvered side windows with screens, curtains, and an aftermarket stereo head unit.
This 1970 Volkswagen Type 2 Westfalia Camper is now offered with a clean Maryland title in the seller's name.
