Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1970 Opel GT appeared during its 1968–1973 production run, created as a sleek European alternative to American sports cars. Originally unveiled as a styling exercise in 1965, it entered production in 1968 using Opel Kadett B mechanicals and bodywork by Brissonneau & Lotz in France. Its long‑nose fastback profile, often likened to the third-generation Chevrolet Corvette, earned it the “Baby Corvette” nickname. For 1970, the GT retained its aerodynamic design featuring a Kamm tail and manually-operated rotating headlights. Power came from either a 1.1L OHV inline‑four producing 67 horsepower or a more popular 1.9L engine (seen here) with 102 horsepower. The chassis incorporated Kadett‑derived components, including a transverse‑leaf front suspension, live rear axle, and front disc brakes.
This 1970 Opel GT is refinished in silver and powered by a rebuilt 1.9L inline-four fed by a Weber carburetor. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, and 13” steel wheels are mounted over front disc and rear drum brakes. Inside, a wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation, and late model high-back bucket seats wear color-coordinated gray upholstery. The seller reports that the brake and exhaust systems have been replaced, along with the clutch, water pump, and shocks.
This Opel GT is now offered at no reserve with parts receipts and a clean New Mexico title in the seller’s name.
