Description

Unveiled in 1968, Jaguar introduced the world to the second series of the critically acclaimed E-Type. A host of improvements throughout the car increased passenger comfort, reliability, and safety, all of which perfectly complemented the well-established driving characteristics and gorgeous styling. Customers could select an open-top roadster, coupe, or a sleek 2+2 allied for seating four adults with increased practicality without sacrificing the sporting charm. Amenities like air conditioning, power steering, and an automatic transmission created a more appealing car for  American buyers. Today, these remain wonderfully styled cars that are the automotive dream for many.

Highlights

  • The bodywork was refinished in its current striking silver in 2022, with the classic red leather, vinyl, and moquette interior refinished in 2014

  • A RetroAir air-conditioning system has been installed

  • Upgrades have been performed to the heater matrix, fan, and fan motor

  • Powered by a 4.2-liter dual-overhead cam inline-six-cylinder with two Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and sends power to the rear wheels via three-speed Borg-Warner 8 automatic transmission

  • Coupe styling with 2+2 seating

  • The car is said to be in superb mechanical condition, with many of the components being replaced or repaired, including the alternator, braking system, and power steering system

  • Undercarriage is said to be remarkably sanitary, with the undercoating applied when new and minor surface rust treated to prevent its spreading

  • The consignor reports that the Borg-Warner transmission was refurbished in 2008, a Magnetron electronic ignition system was fitted in 2014, and a new high torque gear reduction starter motor was installed in 2018

  • Recent service highlights reported by the consignor include refurbishing the speedometer, as well as installing a new oil pressure gauge and sender in 2022

  • Offered from over 25 years of long-term enthusiast ownership

  • Please note that while the five-digit odometer displays 2,631 miles at the time of cataloging, the true mileage is believed to be 102,631
