Introduced for 1970, the Chevrolet Monte Carlo signaled General Motors’ confident entry into the personal luxury coupe market. Built on GM’s new A-body platform, the Monte Carlo blended full-size presence with mid-size agility, targeting buyers who wanted style and comfort without sacrificing performance.
Its long hood, short deck, and formal grille gave it a refined stance that felt deliberately upscale compared to Chevrolet’s muscle cars. Under the hood, the Monte Carlo could be ordered mild or wild, ranging from efficient small-block V8s to more formidable engines.
This modified 1970 Monte Carlo is powered by a 410ci V8 engine with a custom air cleaner lid and valve covers, performance air filter, performance carburetor, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, headers with dual exhaust, AN fuel lines, fuel pressure regulator with gauge, and an electric fan. The Chevy’s TH350 automatic transmission utilizes a manual valve body with a Hurst floor shifter handling the gear changes. Additional modifications include racing bucket seats, shoulder belts, and a tachometer mounted on the A-pillar, and the car has been refinished in red paint over a black vinyl interior.
This 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer in Wisconsin with a clean Illinois title.
