Description
The third-generation Polara was offered from 1965 to 1968 and was moved back to Chrysler’s C-Body platform after a short stint as a smaller offering as a B-Body. The cars would receive updated bodywork each year and were available in a full range of bodies, including sedans, hardtops, station wagons, and desirable two-door convertibles. V8 power was standard and ranged from the modest 318ci up to the stout and legendary 440ci big block.
In 1967, new U.S. government-required safety items were added, which included an energy-absorbing steering column and steering wheel, more interior padding, and a dual-circuit brake master cylinder. The 1968 models received front and rear side marker lights.
This ‘68 drop-top Polara was acquired by the current owner in 2014, and it wears a red finish with a black convertible soft top over black vinyl upholstery with cloth inserts. The car is powered by a replacement drivetrain consisting of a 440ci V8 and a TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic transmission with a 2,800-rpm stall converter.
Additional details include a dual exhaust system, Mickey Thompson valve covers, an Equus tachometer, a push-button AM radio, lap belts, Cragar-style wheels, and BFGoodrich Radial T/A white letter tires.
This 1968 Dodge Polara convertible is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean Michigan title in the current owner’s name.
