Description
Introduced for the 1959 model year as a competitor to the Ford Ranchero, the El Camino successfully combined the comfort and performance of a passenger car with the practicality of a pickup, feeding a unique niche that Ford had already proven existed. Although it wasn't the first car-truck to the party, the El Camino outlasted the Ranchero by 8 model years, with production ending in 1987.
The 1968 Chevrolet El Camino marked the beginning of the model’s third generation and is regarded by some as the year the car-truck hybrid truly came into its own as a muscle-era performance vehicle. 1968 also marked Chevrolet's introduction of the high-performance SS396 package to the El Camino line. Along with its redesign and expanded performance credentials, the 1968 El Camino helped transform the model from a practical utility vehicle into a legitimate muscle car.
This 1968 Chevrolet El Camino is finished in blue with a blue bench seat interior. Rolling on 15" GM Rally wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires, this El Camino is powered by a 327ci V8 mated to a three-speed floor-shifted manual transmission. Inside, it features a woodgrain steering wheel, Kenwood stereo, and a Hurst shifter. Other features include power brakes, dual exhaust, and a trailer hitch.
This 1968 Chevrolet El Camino is now offered with manufacturer's literature, various spare parts, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
