Description
Hot Rod magazine called the new 1968 Chevrolet Corvette “a thoroughly enjoyable road machine — handling, steering, and stopping better than most any European car at twice the price." The first iteration of the C3 generation featured a bold new design with significant engineering updates, proving to be a radical departure from the C2 Sting Ray.
Inspired by the Mako Shark II concept car, the ’68 model featured a dramatic, aerodynamic body with flowing lines and hidden headlights. Under the hood, the car offered a range of powerful engines, including the base 327 cubic-inch V8 and several big-block 427 options, with outputs ranging from 300 to 435 horsepower. The L79 327 V8, rated at 350 hp, was a popular choice for those seeking a balance of performance and drivability. Transmission options included a three-speed automatic and several manual gearboxes. The redesigned interior provided a more driver-focused cockpit. The ’68 model was the first in which the Corvette was officially called “Stingray,” as one word (although it was not badged as such until 1969).
This well-maintained, 58,750-mile ’68 Corvette Convertible is finished in British Green paint over Saddle vinyl interior with a new soft top and matching British Green hardtop. It is powered by a numbers-matching L79 327 and Muncie four-speed.
