Description
The 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle marked a significant evolution in Chevrolet’s mid-size lineup. As part of the second generation of Chevelles (1968–1972), the '68 model introduced a more curvaceous, muscular body style, departing from the boxier lines of earlier years. It featured a tapered front end and a more aggressive stance, aligning with the growing popularity of performance-oriented cars in the late 1960s.
The Malibu trim was the most luxurious in the Chevelle range, offering upgraded interior materials, additional polished accents, and more comfort features. Buyers could choose from a variety of body styles, including coupes, sedans, convertibles, and station wagons. Engine options ranged from economical inline-sixes to powerful V8s.
This 1968 Chevelle Malibu is a Sport Coupe example refinished in metallic blue. The factory engine has been replaced with a 305 cu-in V8, which sends power to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission. A coil-over rear suspension has been fitted along with replacement front springs, powder-coated control arms, and anti-sway bars. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at each corner with replaced front units.
