Description

The 1967 model year was the last of the first‑generation GTO, and it showcased Pontiac’s confidence in the growing and competitive muscle‑car market. Considered the “Original Muscle Car,” the GTO received styling updates, improved safety features, and a new 400‑cubic‑inch V8 for the 1967 model year. Buyers could choose from three body styles: the hardtop coupe, sports coupe (with B pillar), and the highly desirable convertible.

This ‘67 GTO was treated to a multi-decade body-off refurbishment that was completed around 2018, and at that time, the upholstery and convertible top material were changed from black to Parchment. As part of the refurbishment, a date-correct 400ci engine with a WT engine code stamping was installed, and it is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car has also been fitted with 14” Rally II wheels, Coker Firestone Super Sport Wide Oval redline tires, power steering, front disc brakes, a simulated wood-rim steering wheel and shift knob, and a factory-style Gardner exhaust system.

The car is reported to have been sold new in Connecticut, where it is said to have remained until it was acquired in 2021 by the seller, who notes the car has been driven approximately 1,375 miles since it was refurbished.

This 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible is now offered with PHS Automotive Services documents and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.

Servicing & Documentation

  • From the seller: “The car went through a comprehensive frame-off restoration between 1999 and 2019, so all of the parts are new or refurbished as new. Options added include...Rally II wheels, Coker Bias-Ply look Radial, Redline tires, Custom Sport Steering Wheel, Custom Shift Knob, Gardner Concourse Exhaust System, power steering, and power brakes. The convertible top received a tear a couple of years ago, and it was replaced with a new top in 2023.”

  • From the seller: It is a real, documented 242 GTO and includes the PHS documentation. The drivetrain, carburetor, alternator, and many other parts are correct and or numbers matching. The car retains most of its original sheet metal other than the rear taillight panel, which was replaced with GM NOS. Most of the restoration parts were NOS or sourced from other original cars. Mechanically, everything works, including the original radio, and the car drives and runs beautifully.

Known Imperfections

  • Paint crack inside the lower left door

  • Paint blemish below the right rear window

Ownership History

  • From the seller: “I have owned the car for 5 years, and it has been driven less than 1,375 miles since the restoration. The car was originally delivered to CT and spent its entire life there up until 2021, when I purchased it and brought it to NC. It was taken off the road sometime in the mid-seventies and was almost converted into a drag car until it was rescued.

Included Items

  • PHS Automotive Services documents

  • Convertible top boot

Additional Information

  • From the seller: “Odometer may not be original to the car and was not turned back to zero after a complete, extensive restoration.”
