Description

The 1967 Pontiac Firebird marked Pontiac’s bold entry into the pony car segment, directly challenging the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. Introduced mid-year in February 1967, the Firebird shared its F-body platform with the Camaro but featured distinct Pontiac styling and performance options.

The Firebird 400 was the top-tier performance model in the lineup, equipped with Pontiac’s 400 cubic-inch V8 engine borrowed from the GTO that produced 325 horsepower. A special Ram Air version was also available, and buyers could choose from a variety of manual and automatic transmissions. Stylistically, the Firebird 400 stood out with its dual-scoop hood, unique front-end design with a split grille, and “400” badging. It came standard with heavy-duty suspension, front disc brakes, and a limited-slip differential, making it more than just a straight-line bruiser. Inside, the Firebird featured bucket seats, a floor-mounted shifter, and optional Rally gauges.

This 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 is even more than it appears to be, as it has been fully restored and has received multiple upgrades, including an engine swap. It is now powered by a 5.3-liter V8 out of a 2019 GMC Yukon, has a TR-6060 Magnum six-speed manual transmission, and was repainted two months ago.
