“Built by Presidential Limousine Builder, Lehmann-Peterson.” The 1967 Lincoln Continental Lehmann-Peterson Limousine stands as a hallmark of American luxury and bespoke craftsmanship. Built by Lehmann-Peterson of Chicago — Lincoln’s official coachbuilder from 1963 to 1970 — these exclusive limousines were custom-ordered by a distinguished clientele that included celebrities, politicians, and business leaders.

Lehmann-Peterson began transforming standard Lincoln Continentals into executive limousines in 1963, following the success of a prototype that exceeded Ford’s demanding durability standards. By 1967, their conversions featured a substantial 34-inch stretch, resulting in a 160-inch wheelbase. Under the hood, each limousine was powered by a forceful 462 cubic inch V8 engine paired with a three-speed automatic transmission.

Production was limited: only 76 Lehmann-Peterson limousines were built in 1967, and fewer than ten are known to exist today. Each vehicle was tailored to its owner’s specifications, often equipped with high-end amenities such as dual air conditioning systems, auto-dimming headlamps, cruise control, and a division window for privacy. Interiors were lavishly appointed with combinations of leather and cloth upholstery, entertainment systems, and a wide array of custom features.

Today, they are highly sought after for their rarity, craftsmanship, and historical significance, and are more than mere transportation — these limousines were rolling symbols of prestige.
