The CT90 Trail arrived in 1966 as Honda's most capable small-displacement dual-purpose motorcycle, combining a 89cc overhead-cam single-cylinder engine with a unique dual-range transmission — four speeds in low range for serious trail use and four in high for road riding — that gave it genuine versatility across both environments. The CT90 quickly found a following among forest service agencies, ranchers, and recreational riders who needed a machine that could move between paved roads and off-road terrain without compromise.
