Designed to compete against the Ford Mustang, the Chevrolet Camaro not only put up stiff resistance but became a muscle car icon in its own right. First launched in 1967, the new Camaro was available with a variety of engine opinions, from the entry-level 230 cu-in inline-six all the way up to the potent 396 cu-in V8. Not only a straight-line performer, the new Camaro was also competitive in the Trans-Am Series and spawned distinctive models offering turn-key sports car performance. With a total of 80 factory options and an additional 40 dealer accessories, the Camaro was capable of meeting the demands of a wide variety of customers.
