Description
Introduced in 1966 as a replacement for the elegant but dated Giulia Spider, the Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto combined elegant Pininfarina-designed styling with Alfa Romeo's spirited twin-cam engineering, creating one of the most recognizable open-top sports cars of its era. While never officially called Duetto, a name chosen as the result of a competition, the Spider Duetto featured the purest expression of Pininfarina's original "boat-tail" design and achieved lasting cultural significance through its prominent role in the 1967 film "The Graduate."
This 1967 Alfa Romeo 1600 Spider Duetto is powered by a twin Weber-carbureted 1.6L twin-cam Nord inline-four equipped with dual Weber carburetors and paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Finished in Ivory over black vinyl upholstery, the car features a black soft top, 15-inch steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, Jaeger instrumentation, Carello Perspex headlight covers, and a cabin heater.
Reportedly acquired by the seller in 1986, updates include a Nardi steering wheel, wood shift knob, twin wing-mounted mirrors, Koni shock absorbers, and later-model ATE disc brakes in place of the original Dunlop system. The seller also reports that the seat covers and soft top have been replaced at some point.
