Description
The fourth-generation Thunderbird arrived for 1964 with a sleeker, lower profile than the 1961–1963 cars it replaced, and the convertible body style. By 1966 the formula was fully sorted: the 390ci FE-series V8, Cruise-O-Matic automatic, and an equipment list that placed the Thunderbird firmly in the personal luxury segment above the standard full-size Ford while keeping the sporting character that had defined the nameplate since 1955. The convertible, built in significantly smaller numbers than the hardtop, has become the more sought-after body style of the generation.
This 1966 Thunderbird Convertible was sold new through Norton Ford in Alberta Lea, Minnesota and is finished in Ivy Green Metallic — its factory color — following a repaint completed in 2024. The engine was reportedly rebuilt by a prior owner in 1993, and under the seller's ownership since 2022, the car has received a replacement convertible top, tires, carpet, door handles, and weatherstripping, among other items.
This 1966 Ford Thunderbird Convertible is now offered with the original sales invoice, servicing records, a shop manual, and a clean Illinois title in the seller's name.
