Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Ford swiftly revolutionized the automotive industry with the introduction of the Mustang at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York, captivating a young generation of enthusiasts, and in so doing, achieving over 120,000 in sales by August of that year. Body styles available included a two-door Hardtop, Convertible, and beginning in September, a Fastback 2+2, all of which were offered with a base 120 horsepower 170 cu-in straight-six or a range of V8s. A 1965 Ford brochure boasted “over 70 Mustang options,” not including the 21 colors available, ensuring virtually infinite customization to suit every customer’s unique tastes. Wisely choosing not to fix what wasn’t broken, Ford introduced minor interior changes for 1966, including a new five-gauge instrument cluster. The original Ford Mustang represents the birth of the American pony car segment as well as one of its most iconic models, remaining the ultimate entry point into classic American muscle car ownership.
