Description

The Jaguar E-Type was introduced at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show and produced from 1961 to 1975 in three primary series. The Series 1 4.2-liter models, launched in 1965, retained the original design while adding mechanical updates, including a larger XK inline-six engine, all-synchromesh gearbox, improved brakes, and a revised interior.

This 1965 Jaguar E-Type Open Two-Seater (OTS) was originally delivered through Jaguar Cars New York to Robert Chain of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It left the factory finished in dark green with a light tan interior and tan soft top. The XKE now features a black interior and black Stayfast canvas top while otherwise remaining close to its original specification.

In the early 2000s, the car was under the care of a West Coast collector. The in 2007, Jaguar restoration specialist Classic Showcase acquired this very original E-Type and performed a comprehensive restoration. The body was stripped to bare metal and refinished in its original color. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt with new internal components, and a photographic record documents the process. Since completion in 2008, the car has been maintained in excellent condition, with correct chrome wire wheels, Michelin tires, and restored interior trim. The 4.2-liter engine, SU carburetors, and polished alloy components present to factory standards. This 1965 Jaguar E-Type is well suited for touring or concours presentation.
