Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Produced by the Ford of Britain exclusively for European markets, the Ford Zodiac would represent the luxury variant of the largest passenger car offered in the British Ford range from 1950 until 1972 when it was replaced by the Granada. Initially named the Ford Consul, the Zodiac was based on the full-size Ford Zephyr and produced across four different variants. Breaking cover in April of 1962, the Mark III Ford Zodiac would feature a fully restyled exterior with a dramatic new front grille and a four-speed manual transmission now with synchromesh on all ratios as standard in addition to standard front disc brakes. Offered as a four-door saloon, the Ford Zodiac would feature quad headlamps and enlarged rear door openings for the Mark III in addition to pop-out quarter windows. Never officially sold in the United States, this example has been correctly imported and is now offered with a clear Arizona title which allows Stateside enthusiasts to enjoy this rarely seen example.

Ownership History

Following long-term storage in a prominent collection, this example was acquired by the consignor in 2022 who would then mechanically refresh this vehicle after static display. In addition to rebuilding the clutch hydraulics, adjusting the carburetor, and replacing the drivetrain mounts, the consignor also reports replacing the valve cover gasket, oil filter housing seal, and repairing the dash wiring. Since the work has been completed, this example has been used sparingly for attending local car shows.
