Description

The original Ford Mustang debuted in April 1964 and immediately defined what an American pony car could be — affordable, stylish, and available in enough configurations to suit a broad range of buyers. Early models had several unique features and were available with a slightly different engine lineup, including the D-code version of the 289ci V8.

Assembled at the Dearborn, Michigan plant and originally distributed through the St. Louis sales district, this Mustang coupe represents the early production run of the first full model year.

This 1964.5 Mustang hardtop has been refinished in Vintage Burgundy over a black vinyl upholstery. The car is equipped with a C-4 automatic transmission and 3.00:1 standard rear axle, and power comes from a 289ci V8 fitted with aftermarket valve covers and a matching air cleaner assembly.

The car now rides on 14” American Racing wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich tires, and a power front disc brake conversion from CJ Pony Parts replaces the stock drums. An under-dash air conditioning unit has been fitted.

This 1964.5 Ford Mustang Hardtop is offered with Georgia registration in the seller’s name describing it as a 1964 model.
