Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

1964 Chevrolet Impala is a culmination of a unique era in General Motors history. Remembered as the last “X frame” car available in the Chevrolet lineup, not only was it assembled on one of the most popular body styles from the manufacturer, the mid-size Impala uniquely received the largest engines as well. The 409 cu-in big block monster available in the SS Impala was highly configurable supporting a four-barrel AFB carburetor and hydraulic lifters. This engine in street configuration developed over 340 horsepower and when paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and sending the power to the ground through a limited slip differential, the Impala SS could scoot from 0 to 60 in just over 14 seconds.

In a stunning second-act, more fame came to the Impala in a wave of West Coast lowrider culture. The 1964 Impala’s X-frame placed the main frame support in the center of the car allowing the body to be dropped low to the ground and the ‘64 Impala quickly became enshrined in American culture through West Coast Hip hop artists. This 1964 Impala SS Sports Coupe is finished in possibly the most sinister Tuxedo Black exterior on shimmering Silver upholstery. This 1964 Impala is a classic example of what is remembered today as one of the most culturally significant muscle cars of the early ‘60s.

This car is part of the George Foreman Collection, which comprises over 50 cars from the 1930s through today, with a focus on American classics and late-model sports cars.

  • Please note that the vehicles in The George Foreman Collection have been in long-term static storage and will benefit from additional mechanical attention prior to being driven. Bidders are encouraged to review the Additional Documents section of each lot for any recent mechanical service rendered to help return certain vehicles to running condition. Additionally, bidders should carefully review the photos of each lot in the collection, which may highlight the oxidation of metal components certain vehicles sustained as the result of a garage fire caused by a golf cart battery in March 2019. Although none of the vehicles sustained fire damage from the fire itself, the negative cosmetic effects of the corrosive soot vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle and can be observed in the photo galleries of each lot. All lots are sold as is, where is, and bidders are responsible for any desired diligence before placing a bid.
