Produced from 1961 through 1963, the second-generation Rambler American represented AMC's entry in the growing compact-car market of the early ‘60s. For its final model year, AMC introduced a revised front grille and added a new pillarless two-door hardtop body style. The top-level coupe, formally designated as the 440-H, featured front bucket seats, a center console, and a factory-rated 138-horsepower version of AMC inline-six.

This 1963 Rambler American 440-H is powered by a 196 cubic-inch inline-six fitted with an aftermarket carburetor and paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Classic Black over a Red vinyl interior, this Rambler features chrome bumpers and rides on red 15-inch steel wheels fitted with Rambler-branded wheel covers.

Inside, textured vinyl upholstery covers the front bucket seats and rear bench, while a center console with aluminum trim separates the front seats. Additional equipment includes front and rear drum brakes, a factory AM radio, and a side-exit exhaust system.

From the seller: "I recently took a trip from near Kansas City, Missouri, through St. Louis, Missouri, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Cherokee, North Carolina, and into Virginia, stopping along the way to visit unique destinations. During the trip, the fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, and ignition points were replaced, which made a noticeable improvement in how the car ran. The car starts every time despite being more than 60 years old."

The car is now offered with a clean Virginia title.
