Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
“Fairlane is the newest, happiest idea in cars to come along in years — and it’s a Ford exclusive.” Positioned between the compact Falcon and the full-size Galaxie, the Fairlane 500 offered a mid-sized balance of practicality, performance, and style in a size no other manufacturer had yet.
The 1963 Ford Fairlane 500 Two-Door Sedan was part of Ford’s second generation of Fairlanes, which had transitioned from full-size to mid-size in 1962. The 500 trim was the upscale version, featuring additional chrome accents, upgraded interior materials, and more standard features compared to the base model. The 1963 model year brought subtle styling updates, including revised chrome trim and a more refined appearance. It was available with a range of engines, starting with a 170 cubic inch inline-six producing 101 horsepower. Optional V8s included the 221 cu-in and the more powerful 260 cu-in “Challenger” V8, which delivered 164 horsepower with a two-barrel carburetor. Transmission choices included a three-speed manual or the Ford-O-Matic automatic.
The Fairlane 500 Two-Door Sedan was known for its clean lines and unit-body construction. With 28,984 units produced, it was a popular choice for buyers seeking a stylish yet affordable mid-size car during the early 1960s.
