Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette marked a pivotal moment in American automotive history with the debut of the second-generation (C2) Corvette, also known as the Sting Ray. Designed under the direction of Bill Mitchell and engineered by Zora Arkus-Duntov, the 1963 model introduced a bold new look and advanced performance features that set it apart from its predecessors.
One of the most iconic features of the 1963 Corvette was the split rear window on the coupe model — an element that appeared only in ’63, making it a collector's favorite. The split window was a stylistic choice by Mitchell, though it was later dropped due to visibility concerns. The car was also available as a convertible, continuing the open-top tradition of earlier Corvettes. Under the hood, the 1963 Corvette offered a range of V8 engines.
This 1963 Corvette Sting Ray not only has split-window collectability going for it, but its longtime owner gave it a complete overhaul in 2009, and it has been raced exclusively since. Among the car’s upgrades: a Custom Street Shop C2 chassis, 427 cu-in LS7 crate engine, Tremec five-speed manual transmission, C4 suspension components, and numerous additional enhancements.
The custom build was so well done that the Corvette was featured in the March 2012 issue of Popular Hot Rodding magazine. Read all about the car's extensive history and transformation here.
