Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1962 Porsche 356B marked a key evolution of Porsche’s first production car, the 356. By the early ’60s, the 356 symbolized precision engineering and sporting elegance. The “B” series, launched in 1960 and featured higher-mounted headlights, revised bumpers with taller overriders, and improved interior ergonomics. Power came from air-cooled flat-four engines: the 1600 Normal (60 hp), 1600 Super (75 hp), and Super 90 (90 hp), paired with a four-speed manual for agile handling and performance. Body styles included Coupe, Cabriolet, and Speedster.
Competing against British and Italian sports cars, Porsche stood out with lightweight design, rear-engine balance, and everyday usability. In 1962, about 3,000 Super Coupes were sold in the U.S., Porsche’s largest export market.
This Karosserie Reutter-bodied 356B was ordered with the 75 hp 1600 Super engine option and it was painted at the factory in Rubinrot, or Ruby Red. Documents show that it was purchased used at Gainesville Auto Sales in October 1965 by George O. Pierce, and it currently remains in that state.
This 1962 Porsche 356B 1600 Super Coupe is now represented at no reserve by a Broad Arrow Specialist with 1960s purchase documentation, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Florida title in the current owner’s name.
