1959 Willys-Jeep CJ-5

Description

The Jeep CJ-5 emerged through Willys-Overland's refinement of the initial World War II Willys MB "Jeep." Introduced in 1955, the CJ-5 represented a civilian version of the M-38A1 military Jeep being used in the Korean War. Vastly improved over its military sibling, the CJ-5 boasted a longer 81-inch wheelbase, comfortable bucket seats, and more rounded bodywork made of thicker-gauge steel. Initially, the sole available engine was the "Hurricane" F-head four-cylinder, tracing its roots back to the original WWII Jeep engine. The rugged, no-frills CJ-5 proved to be the longest-running iteration of the continually evolving Jeep, remaining in production until 1983. Today, these charming offroaders continue to be enjoyed for their stripped-back appearance and military-derived overlanding prowess.

• Rides on 15-inch cream-finished steel wheels mounted with brand-new Kumho Road Venture AT51 tires
