Description

The MGA entered the market in 1955 as a clean break from the upright, separate-fender styling of the T-series — a fully enveloped body, a lower center of gravity, and a more modern chassis. It’s combination of a willing inline-four, rack-and-pinion steering, and independent front suspension made it a capable driver's car that found buyers across Europe, the United States, and beyond.

More than 100,000 MGAs were produced between 1955 and 1962. This 1959 model carries the 15GD engine designation, identifying it as a later B-series 1,489cc unit produced between January and May 1959 with mechanical refinements including an uprated starter motor and flanged output gearbox compared to the earlier models.

This 1959 MGA Roadster is finished in red over a black interior. The car rides on wire spoke wheels with spin-off center caps, steers through a banjo-style leather-wrapped wheel, and is stopped by four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.

Power comes from the 1,489cc B-Series inline-four breathing through dual SU carburetors and driving the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. Following the seller’s acquisition, the brakes, wiring, fuel and oil lines, clutch, and upholstery were sorted, and Continental ProContact tires were installed. A spin-on oil canister and 12-volt electrical conversion were installed by a prior owner.

This 1959 MG MGA is now offered with a convertible soft top, side curtains, tonneau cover, spare tire with cover, service records, and a 1999 MGA parts catalog, and a Georgia registration in the seller's name.
