* * *

By 1959, Cadillac had firmly established itself as the standard of American luxury and design innovation. The marque’s vehicles embodied the optimism and extravagance of the era, combining advanced engineering with dramatic styling.

The Fleetwood 60 Special Sedan was Cadillac’s top-tier four-door model, positioned between the Series 62 and the exclusive Eldorado. It was built on a 130" wheelbase and constructed by Fleetwood Body Works of Detroit, renowned for its precision craftsmanship and high-quality coachwork. Only 12,250 examples were reportedly produced, underscoring its exclusivity and importance among Cadillac’s offerings.

This example is a Fleetwood Sixty Special hardtop sedan. According to its factory body tag, the vehicle was produced by Fleetwood Body Works under body number FW 8161 and was originally finished in Wood Rose Metallic with a Fleetwood-exclusive cloth upholstery.

According to the selling dealer, this 1959 Fleetwood 60 Special has been restored in its factory-correct Wood Rose Metallic exterior. Power is supplied by Cadillac’s 390ci, 6.4L OHV V8 factory-rated at 325 horsepower, paired with a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. The interior retains its Fleetwood-exclusive trim pattern, originally described by Cadillac as part of the Colony/Clarion/Concord family of upholstery.
