Description

The 1958 Triumph TR10 was a compact British car marketed in North America as a rebadged version of the Standard Ten, produced by the Standard Motor Company and owned Triumph at the time. The TR10 was introduced as a practical, economical alternative to the more performance-oriented Triumph TR2 and TR3 sports cars, aiming to capitalize on Triumph’s growing reputation in the U.S. market.

The TR10 featured a modest 948cc inline-four engine, producing around 35-40 horsepower, paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It was available in both sedan and estate wagon body styles, with the estate variant being particularly rare. Stylistically, the TR10 bore a resemblance to other small European cars of the era, often being mistaken for a Morris Minor or even a Mini. Despite its humble performance, the TR10 was appreciated for its simplicity, reliability, and affordability — selling for around $1,800 new in the U.S.

The Wisconsin owners of this 1958 Triumph TR10 purchased it in the late 1990s as a project car and totally restored it with a new paint job, re-chromed bumpers, new interior, and mechanicals with new or original replacement parts.

Ownership History

The Wisconsin owners of this 1958 Triumph TR10 Sedan bought it over 30 years ago. The seller says, “We purchased the car in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, as a project car in the late 1990s and had it professionally repainted, the bumpers re-chromed, the interior redone ... transmission, brakes, wiring ... The car is rust free, has no body damage, and is free of any fillers. Her name is Bridget, and she’s a looker and a fun ride. She is uncommon; we’ve never seen another one in our area and or at the British car and bike shows we have attended.”
