“These Task Force 58 lightweights are at the head of their class in power, payload capacity, and eye-appeal!” So read the 1958 Chevrolet brochure touting the Apache trucks. It had been three years since Chevy’s revolutionary Task Force models were revealed, and the public was enamored with the styling, as well as the technical improvements like V8 engines and 12-volt electrical systems.

The Task Force trucks saw their most significant redesign in 1958. Taking inspiration from Chevrolet’s passenger cars, the lineup featured quad headlamps, larger parking lamps, and an updated grille with louvers and a prominent, embossed “Chevrolet” chrome bar. Engines were available in 235 cu-in six and 283 cu-in V8 displacements, with three-speed manual or automatic transmissions. And while medium-duty Viking and heavy-duty Spartan versions were also built, the light-duty Apache went on to capture the hearts of hot rodders everywhere.

This clean 1958 Apache Fleetside has been upgraded with a bigger V8, a modern transmission, larger wheels and tires, and a customized interior and bed.
