Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Nineteen-fifty-five marked a major milestone for Chevrolet. The model range featured an improved chassis and stunning styling that would have been enough to make history, but the engineers at Ed Cole's team went further. The model range was available with a standard 150 cu-in inline-six engine or an optional 265 cu-in V8 engine, an even more potent option available for those wanting an even sportier offering. The engineering department, with the aid of Zora Arkus-Duntov, introduced one of the first overhead-valve V8s into their entry-level class of cars, which the marketing department called the "Turbo-Fire V8.” This revolutionary 265 cu-in V8 engine gave the passenger-car line a new breath of sporting life and can be seen as the starting point for decades of V8 engine development at General Motors, continuing through the current generation of LS engines.

Jerry Ferguson, a member of the United States Navy and a co-founder of Biomet Inc., a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of musculoskeletal orthopedic implants and products, was known for his entrepreneurial drive and generosity. He was also an enthusiast of all things 1950s, from music to automobiles. Pursuing his love affair with the automobile, in 1984 Ferguson established the Classic Car Centre of Warsaw, Indiana, a company dedicated to the acquisition and restoration of mid-century American Classics. In operation until his return to Biomet in 1993, today Hagerty Marketplace is proud to offer The Ferguson Collection, comprising the long-hidden remaining inventory and personal collection of Jerry Ferguson.
