Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Ford became the first of the Big Three to enter the pickup market, but it was Chevrolet that stood tall as Detroit’s top truck seller by the time World War II began — and maintained that position long after. Chevy resumed civilian truck production in August 1945 and introduced its new “Advance Design” pickups in May 1947. Wider, longer, and lower than the prewar leftovers marketed in ’46, the Advance Design models looked thoroughly modern and featured an equally modern, rear-hinged hood. Advance Design truck production continued into the mid-1950s, and Chevy continued to sell more trucks than all its rivals.
These classic Chevy pickups look incredible when customized, and this 1954 3100 is said to have been highly modified by Jesse James of West Coast Choppers fame. It features an aftermarket frame, air suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes, and is powered by a fuel-injected V8 with an automatic transmission. The exterior has been refinished in an eye-catching green, and the interior and bed are classically modern.
This is a unique hot rod with an interesting backstory, are you ready to write the next chapter?

Ownership History
The consignor states, “Mr. James built the truck. His friend had one built by the Salinas Boys. Mr. James and his friend swapped trucks. Well Mr. James’ friend passed and his wife was dispersing his collection and we ended up with the truck. No bill of sale was ever done in the swap, so everyone had to go back to Mr. James for a signed bill of sale.”
