Description

In 1942 Willys-Overland was building military MB Jeeps as fast as our armed services could accept them. But the small company needed a plan for after the war, and that year they hired famed industrial designer Brooks Stevens to develop a vehicle that shared many MB components and was economical to tool. Announced in 1946 as a “people's car” the two-wheel drive Willys Jeep Station Wagon was first all-steel, factory-built wagon in North America. The four-wheel drive model became available in 1949. By 1950 it was the most popular station wagon in America, and Consumer Reports that year stated, "The Willys Station Wagon, used as it is intended to be used, has no equal in its field...” The Station Wagon was so popular it was offered for nearly 20 years until the Wagoneer replaced it in 1966.

This well-maintained 1953 Willys FA2 4X4 Station Wagon is a true original, America’s first sport utility vehicle, and it is believed to have only two owners from new. Showing 38,178 miles at listing, which is thought to be original, the floor mat, seat covers, door panels and all glass are said to be from the factory, too.
