Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Produced by Vincent HRD, the British-built Vincent Comet was part of the Series C lineup, which also included the famous Black Shadow and Rapide models. The Comet, however, was unique in its own right, featuring a 499cc single-cylinder engine, which was a departure from the twin-cylinder engines used in its more powerful siblings.

The Comet's engine was designed with a high camshaft and overhead valve (OHV) configuration, providing a balance of performance and reliability. This engine was capable of producing around 28 horsepower, which was quite impressive for a single-cylinder bike of its time. The motorcycle also featured Vincent's innovative "Girdraulic" front fork, a combination of girder and hydraulic suspension, which offered superior handling and comfort compared to traditional designs.

One of the standout features of the Comet was its frame, which integrated the oil tank into the backbone, reducing weight and improving rigidity. This design also allowed the engine to be a stressed member of the frame, enhancing the bike's overall stability and performance.
