In 1941, Ford unveiled a heavily updated version of its bestselling sedan before production of all civilian automobiles was halted by America’s entry into World War II. After the conflict ended and auto production began anew, Ford provided slightly updated versions of its previous model line—with additional brightwork, a new grille, a 239 cu-in “Flathead” V8 engine, and new navy blue/gray interior—and these cars remained generally unchanged through the 1948 model year.
