The 1946 Dodge Custom W-Series Pickup Truck marked a significant post-war transition for Dodge. Introduced as part of Dodge’s effort to resume civilian vehicle production after World War II, the W-Series trucks were known for their rugged durability and practical design.
The W-Series design emphasized functionality, with a spacious cab and a versatile cargo bed that could handle a variety of loads. The truck was available in a variety of configurations, including a half-ton pickup, a panel delivery, and a chassis-cab. It was powered by a reliable 217.8 cu-in inline-six engine, producing around 95 horsepower, paired with a three-speed manual transmission. The W-series was a reliable and durable workhorse, and production continued until 1947, when it was replaced by the all-new B-series.
This 1946 Dodge Custom W-Series Pickup carries on its pre-war Moderne style with a more modern drivetrain, including a Mopar 318 cu-in LA-block V8 and three-speed A727 automatic transmission. Air conditioning, power windows, and a ceiling-mounted Sony Bluetooth stereo add to the comforts of this classy hauler.
