Description

After the Ford buy-out of Lincoln in 1922, Edsel Ford became President of the up-market Lincoln division. Edsel became very involved with styling decisions and made sure that subsequent Lincolns, including the Model K and L, were increasingly elegant. He also had a significant role in the stunning Zephyr of 1936, designed by 27 year-old Chief Stylist Eugene "Bob" Gregorie Jr. to have what he termed “continental” styling. This European-influenced design ethos involved the use of waterfall-like grilles, long hoods, and short rear decks as seen on Lincoln-Zephyrs and the 1941 Lincoln Continental. To this day, the streamlined styling of the Zephyr is viewed by many as one of the most beautiful mass-produced American automobiles of all time, making them an enticing platform for hot-rodders to add their own personal touch like the example offered here.
