Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. This special offering is once again a presentation of the unique, with American Muscle, British class, and heavy post war iron from multiple platforms all on offer. These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE. * * *
From its inception in 1911, the Indianapolis 500 has featured cutting-edge cars and forged legendary drivers. And from the very first machines of the early 1910s to Parnelli Jones’ 150-mph qualifying run in his Watson in 1962, front-engine Indy Roadsters have held a special place in the hearts of race fans.
Even though those front-engine racers began to fade away in the mid-1960s as rear-engine machines became dominant, the look of the classic roadster never went out of style. This customized 1941 Ford, for example, was built to emulate those classic Indy Roadsters. It wears a hand-formed aluminum body that tapers into a unique, teardrop-shaped tail with a layer of wood on top and has working brake lights. Under the hood is a bored-and-stroked Mercury flathead V8 engine, which feeds power through a five-speed TREMEC manual transmission. In the cockpit, you'll find two bomber-style seats, a full suite of gauges, and a racing switch panel.
This modified 1941 Ford Boattail Roadster is now represented at no reserve by a Broad Arrow Specialist in Georgia with a clean Alabama title.
