The WC series, produced by Dodge from 1941 to 1945, contributed significantly to the Allied war effort by providing essential logistical support. They included a variety of light military trucks designed for different purposes, such as weapon carriers, ambulances, reconnaissance vehicles, and command cars. The WC12, specifically, was a 1/2-ton 4x4 truck, part of the second T-211 WC series. It featured a closed cab design and was powered by a Dodge T-214 flathead 230 cu-in 6-cylinder engine combined with a four-speed manual transmission and a single-speed transfer case, providing the WC12 with reliable performance in various terrains.
Overall, the WC12’s versatility and durability made it an invaluable asset to the U.S. military during World War II, contributing significantly to various logistical and operational tasks. Post war, the Power Wagon was produced for another thirty-five years in numerous variations and was sold and used all over the world.
Discovered in the rugged landscape of Wyoming in 1997, this exceptional 1941 Dodge WC12 1/2-ton 4x4 embarked on a journey to North Carolina, where it would undergo a painstaking and comprehensive restoration. Many can claim to have the best restoration, but only this WC12 is able to claim that the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) recognized the exceptional quality of the Dodge, bestowing upon it a Senior National First Place award in 2007. This prestigious accolade was further solidified in 2010 when the AACA presented the vehicle with a Grand National First Place prize, a testament to its superior condition and historical accuracy.
This WC12 was also highlighted in Wheels of Time magazine. It holds the distinction of being an early production model, adding to its rarity and collectability. Furthermore, it belongs to a unique series produced for only a single year, making it a highly sought-after piece of World War II history.
A rear cargo cover is also included, adding to the vehicle's practicality and completing its period appearance. The original maintenance manual provides valuable insight into the vehicle's upkeep and operation. For extended journeys, a jerry can is provided, and a first aid container is included for added safety and preparedness. This meticulously restored 1941 Dodge WC12 1/2-ton 4x4 represents a rare opportunity to own a significant piece of early military-inspired civilian vehicle history, meticulously preserved and award-winning.
