Description

By the 1960s, pre-war car enthusiasts were shifting from stripped-down and loud hot rods built for pure speed to cars they could drive every day comfortably and for long distances, sparking the street rod movement. Unlike the performance-focused and basic hot rods, street rods featured updated plush interiors, modern suspension, and reliable V8 engines. In 1970, the first Street Rod Nationals event was held in Peoria, Illinois, which led to the formation of the National Street Rod Association.

This ‘38 Chevy was turned into a street rod under prior ownership and acquired by the seller’s father approximately eight years ago. It features a chopped steel body with a fiberglass hood, fenders, and running boards that has been finished in metallic maroon and pearl orange. The body rides on a modified S10 chassis with a Ford rear axle, rack-and-pinion steering, and four-wheel disc brakes.

Power comes from a 355ci Chevy V8 that is paired with a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and equipped with an Edelbrock intake manifold and MSD ignition components. Inside, a pair of modern front bucket seats trimmed in gray leather have been installed along with an aftermarket rear bench and door panels that are trimmed in tweed and vinyl upholstery.

Additional details include frenched taillights, tri-bar headlights, a billet grille and bumpers, shaved door handles, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, cruise control, an Alpine head unit, power windows, VDO instrumentation, a Lokar shifter, dual exhaust, and American Racing wheels.

This 1938 Chevrolet Master Deluxe Town Sedan street rod is now offered with a clean Kansas title in the seller’s name.
