The AACA Museum at Hershey is truly America’s transportation experience. The 71,000-square-foot museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania, opened on 26 June 2003 and since then has displayed vintage automobiles in a truly unique way. Visitors walk through eight decades in time while traveling from New York to San Francisco with iconic settings revealing vehicles from generations of American motoring. The AACA Museum at Hershey ranks among the top automotive museums in the world and has been recognized by the Smithsonian as an Affiliate Museum. Hagerty Marketplace is honored to offer this collection of exceptional and unusual vehicles from The AACA Museum at Hershey.

In America it was Henry Ford’s Model T, in Germany the VW Beetle, in France the Citroën 2CV. But it was the Fiat 500 A Topolino that put Italy on wheels.

The Topolino (Italian for “Little Mouse” or “Mickey Mouse”) debuted for the 1936 model year, officially referred to as the Model A, and was offered as a two-door sedan, two-door convertible (with a folding roof) and a two-door van. It was called a “great new little car to save money and work”, as the Istituto Luce film showed one driven along the terrace of the Circolo della Stampa, to show off its compactness. Power came from a liquid-cooled, 13 hp, 569cc four-cylinder side-valve engine that was located far forward in the car with the radiator mounted behind, allowing a stylish, sloping grille assembly. The independent front suspension and quarter-elliptic rear springs provided a stable ride and decent handling. A manual 4-speed gearbox drove the rear wheels, and fuel economy was about 50 mpg for what was officially a two-seater.

The remarkable Topolino was produced until 1955 when the larger Fiat 600 was introduced. By then Fiat had sold about 511,000 of the charming Topi. This 1937 Coupe from the AACA Museum represents Italy’s little mouse that roared with both practicality and Italian style.
