Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 1937 Citroën 7CV, a key member of the pioneering Traction Avant (front-wheel drive) series, stood among the most innovative automobiles of its time. First introduced in 1934, the 7CV was one of the earliest mass‑produced cars to combine front‑wheel drive, unitary welded construction, fully independent suspension, and hydraulic brakes—an engineering package designed by André Lefèbvre that set new standards for safety, handling, and rigidity. By 1937, Citroën had strengthened the model’s mechanical durability, refining its engine, driveline components, and overall reliability after early production challenges.

Powered by a 1.3‑liter four‑cylinder overhead‑valve engine with wet liners, the 7CV delivered efficient and predictable performance ideally suited to France’s expanding road network. Its advanced chassis provided road manners far superior to most contemporaries. Offered in several body styles—berline, faux cabriolet, and familial—the model also featured a distinctive low‑slung profile.

Although later overshadowed by the larger 11CV and 15CV, the 7CV established the Traction Avant’s reputation and represents a revolutionary moment in automotive history, reflecting André Citroën’s relentless commitment to modern, forward‑thinking design.

Finished in midnight blue with black fenders, this 1937 Citroen 7CV Berline is now represented at no reserve by a Broad Arrow Specialist and is offered with a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
