“Styled for Youth—expressing the alert spirit of the Ford V-8,” said the prochure. Building on one of Ford’s most significant automobiles, the 1936 Ford Model 68 featured refreshed styling by Holden “Bob” Koto of Briggs Manufacturing, including a longer hood, distinctive grille, and redesigned fenders and wheels. Its 221-cubic-inch flathead V8 made about 85 horsepower, and the DeLuxe model offered six open body styles.
The DeLuxe Roadster, with its stylish rumble seat and jaunty soft top with side curtains, was one of the scarcest Fords of 1936. Just 3,862 rolled off the line that year.
This rare DeLuxe Roadster was restored and maintained by marque specialists Michael Kubarth and Charlie Swindler. It features a working Columbia two-speed rear axle, dual exhaust, and a radio, and new old stock parts were reportedly used throughout the refurbishment, including the leaf springs. The vehicle has also been driven on the track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as documented by the commemorative plaque displayed in the car. The carburetor and transmission were overhauled, and the clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing have been replaced.
This 1936 Ford De Luxe Roadster is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of its current owner with a clean Wisconsin title.

Additional Information
An aftermarket serial number has been fitted to this Ford.
The selling broker states, “Mechanically, it is one of the nicer 1940’s Fords we have driven but was stored for a long time. It is an amazing time capsule. The top also works effortlessly. The tires and tubes were new 15 years ago but are now getting old due to age. This vehicle has been stored for a number of years and should be safety checked prior to street use.
“Cosmetically, the paint does have scratches and small checking in spots as shown. The door jambs and door corners are amazing; the frame and floor pans are outstanding.
“Due to the age and nature of collector automobiles, we cannot guarantee that every vehicle function will work as it originally did when the vehicle was new. These components are typically 30-60 years old or more, and may need attention and service.
“In addition, many of our vehicles are from estates and have been stored and not driven. When vehicles sit for periods of time or once they are driven, issues can arise without warning.
“Due to age, all vehicles are sold strictly as-is without warranty or set aside. Pre-purchase inspections are encouraged and welcome while the auction is running.”
