Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The rare Plymouth PB represents a high point in prewar Plymouth production, showcasing the brand’s attractive styling and tendency to punch above its weight. Offered in a variety of different body styles, the PB offered here is a Convertible Coupe, one of 4,853 such cars constructed. Plymouth’s PB was a one year only model, and according to the Standard Catalog of American Cars represents “Plymouth’s zenith of 4 cylinder car production”.

This car is confirmed by its FCA Production Record as having been completed on March 14, 1932 at the Detroit, Michigan plant, with delivery destination noted as H.O. Harrison Co. in San Francisco, California. A remarkable history file accompanies the PB, including an original sales contract from 1932 showing its first sale in April 1932 to Robert D. Rhodes of San Jose, California. Incredibly, the original 1934 California ‘pink slip’ still exists in the car’s history file. Retained in the Rhodes family for many decades, the PB was eventually acquired by a series of Californian owners, before arriving with its current owner, a Northern California Plymouth aficionado who acquired the car in 2015.

Today, the PB exhibits an older cosmetic body restoration, contrasted by a more recent and high quality interior retrim in tan leather along with a tan cloth soft top with matching boot cover. The PB is a running, driving example – please see driving and startup videos included as part of the listing. This handsome PB is a seldom seen contemporary and worthy competitor to the more well-known Ford and Chevrolet roadsters of the era, and offers a rare opportunity to acquire an early open Plymouth.
