Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. Nothing quite encapsulates the launch and excitement of the region as this out-of-world collection of cars including movie cars and tributes, desirable classics, and a rocket truck itself. 3… 2… 1… These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE.

The first of August 1923 was “Buick Day,” the day the 1924 models were announced, and it was no ordinary new-car introduction. The Standard Six was designed to be more accessible than the Master Six, making it a popular choice among middle-class buyers. It shared the General Motors A platform with other GM brands like Oldsmobile, Oakland, and Chevrolet. The car featured a 114.5-inch wheelbase, which provided a stable and comfortable ride. Styling, too, was updated, with the radiator shell given a contoured “upper lip” and fenders more highly crowned. The result was almost Packard-like, and reportedly the Packard people became concerned.
New features included a larger “valve-in-head” six-cylinder engine, courtesy of a quarter inch longer stroke, with higher compression and better breathing. Buick was one of the few automakers in the world at the time to feature overhead valve engines. Other remarkable features were Buick’s new four-wheel brakes. Buick claimed two and a half years of research in their design and 150,000 miles of road testing.
Introduced as part of the Standard Six Series 20, the 25S Sport Touring was produced between 1925 and 1928. Buick sold nearly 200,000 cars in calendar 1925, placing it sixth in the industry, and it’s easy to see why.
