The Ferrari 488 GTB arrived in 2015 as a landmark moment in Maranello's storied history — the first mid-engine V8 Ferrari to abandon natural aspiration since the 308 GTB of 1975.

At its heart sat a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 rated at 660 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque, earning the International Engine of the Year award in 2016. Ferrari's engineers wrung a blistering 9,000 rpm redline from the boosted unit and paired it with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Ferrari debuted its “blown rear diffuser” concept — channeling air through ducts beneath the bodywork to dramatically increase downforce without drag penalties. The design language, penned by Flavio Manzoni's Centro Stile team, transformed aggressive function into sculpture. Side-slip control and magnetorheological dampers gave otherworldly cornering ability. Motor Trend exclaimed, “Ferrari proves here and now why it’s the gold standard….
