Description
“Imagine a 400-horsepower, aluminum V-8 inside a 2+2 coupe so muscular, it appears to be shrink wrapped.” That’s what Pontiac called the 2006 GTO.
The 2006 Pontiac GTO represented the final evolution of Pontiac’s modern revival of a legendary American muscle car nameplate. Originally reintroduced for 2004, the GTO was based on the Australian-built Holden Monaro and served as Pontiac’s performance flagship during the brand’s final decade. For 2006, the GTO received its most significant upgrades, solidifying its reputation as a refined yet powerful muscle coupe.
Under the hood, the 2006 GTO featured General Motors’ 6.0-liter LS2 V8, producing 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft. of torque. Buyers could choose between a 4-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. Updates were subtle but sharp: new Spice Red paint, illuminated steering‑wheel audio controls, optional 18‑inch alloys, and revised blacked‑out tail lamps. As Car and Driver discovered, “Clearly, the Goat is evolving into an incredibly gratifying car.”
Showing less than 18,900 miles, this low-mile Pontiac GTO is finished in Spice Red and fitted with the desirable six-speed manual gearbox. Modifications are said to include a Fastchip high-performance ECU chip, Lingenfelter Trigger Wheel Conversion Control Module Kit, Nitrous oxide system, and Motegi Racing wheels. This 2006 Pontiac GTO is now offered by the selling dealer in Illinois with a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report and a clean Montana title.
