Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 2003 Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa marked a key moment in Maserati’s revival under Ferrari’s stewardship. Introduced in 2001 and refined by 2003, the Spyder Cambiocorsa featured a 4.2-liter V8 engine producing 390 horsepower, paired with a Formula One-inspired electrohydraulic manual transmission—hence the name “Cambiocorsa,” meaning “race change.” This gearbox allowed clutchless gear shifts via steering wheel-mounted paddles, offering a more engaging driving experience. Automobile Magazine discovered, “In sport mode, the combination of high revs and a fully depressed accelerator pedal will automatically trigger the quickest shift speed; it makes the tires chirp not only at takeoff but also during upshifts into second and third gears.”
Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign, the Spyder’s styling blended classic Maserati elegance with modern proportions, including a shortened wheelbase compared to the 3200 GT coupe. The interior featured luxurious leather, fine wood trim, and a driver-focused layout.
As Maserati’s first true modern convertible, the Spyder Cambiocorsa helped reestablish the brand’s presence in the U.S. market after a decade-long absence. It combines Italian flair, Ferrari engineering, and open-top motoring — and this four-owner Spyder in elegant Nero (Black) over a Cuoio (Tan) leather interior is showing less than 33,600 miles from new.
