In 1953, Chevrolet introduced the Corvette as the “first of the dream cars to come true.” Fifty years later, the fifth-generation Corvette (C5) emerged as the most revolutionary redesign in the model’s history. Thanks to cutting-edge engineering, the C5 was both lighter and more rigid than its predecessor, the C4, largely due to the use of hydroformed frame rails. It also featured a rear-mounted transaxle, which not only improved weight distribution but also freed up interior space.

The C5 brought several technological advancements, including a drive-by-wire throttle system and variable effort power steering. Most notably, it marked the debut of the now-iconic all-aluminum “LS” V8 engine family — ushering in a new era of performance and efficiency.

To commemorate the Corvette’s 50th anniversary, Chevrolet released a special edition finished in exclusive Anniversary Red paint, enhanced with Xirallic aluminum-oxide flakes beneath a tinted clear coat. Inside, the car featured Shale leather upholstery, unique anniversary badging, and embroidered accents. The Anniversary Edition also came standard with the new F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control system, blending comfort and performance like never before. It's worth noting that all 2003 Corvettes featured 50th Anniversary badging, but only those with the 1SC package are considered true 50th Anniversary Edition models — like this well-maintained convertible.

Ownership History

The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this four owner 2003 Chevrolet Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition Convertible in Texas, Pennsylvania, and since 2022, Ohio. The consignor states, “The Corvette has been a Texas car until he bought it from a dealer in Pennsylvania in early 2022. The front and sides have been repainted. There is no evidence of previous bodywork, though. There have been no performance enhancements done to the car. It is completely stock, with the exception of replacing the magnetic ride shocks with Bilstein B8s with overriders.”
