Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 944 S2 Cabriolet, introduced in May 1989, marked the first convertible in the 944 family. Visually, the S2 Cabriolet featured Turbo-like styling, 16‑inch wheels, improved brakes, and a five-speed manual gearbox—refinements that made it the most capable naturally-aspirated 944 variant. Total global Cabriolet production was limited to 5,656 units, with 3,938 built in 1990 and only 1,824 cars sold in the U.S. Production concluded in 1991, making this a rare and desirable capstone to the 944’s legacy before the arrival of the 968.

This 1990 example is finished in Linen Metallic with matching gray leather upholstery and features a black convertible soft top, pop-up headlights, and fog lights. Powered by a 3.0L inline-four backed by a 5-speed manual transaxle, this 944 has seen service under current ownership including replacement of the timing belt, water pump, clutch, front wheel bearings, and more. This 922 S2 Cabriolet is now offered with a clean CARFAX vehicle history report, service records, owner's manuals and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.

Ownership History

This 944 S2 was reportedly sold new by Heishman’s Porsche of Arlington, VA to a doctor in Rockville, Maryland. Records show it changed ownership in the mid 1990s and later traded to a local Toyota dealership near Germantown, Maryland. It was purchased by the seller who is believed to be third owner in 2015, and has reportedly been enjoyed during fair-weather driving season in Maryland. The included clean CARFAX history report begins in 2002 and shows Maryland registration since. This vehicle is offered with a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.

  • Service records since 2015

  • Owner's manual, audio system manual, factory dealership literature

Additional Information

From the seller, “This car has been a blast to drive! I've gotten many comments whenever I've parked it somewhere and gotten many thumbs up by-passing vehicles. It's been kept in a heated garage and pampered since March 2015.”

The seller states that the odometer gear broke under current ownership and roughly 20 undocumented miles were added during the repair period.
